When Bill Gallagher and Curt Michael made the move to put Tim Buckwalter into the potent 5g machine for the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, they knew that they’d be getting a talented driver. Another thing that they knew was having to work around Tim’s dedicated Saturday Night commitments to modified racing at the Grandview Speedway. Such a conflict, occurs when the series invades the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday for the second time in series history, and only time in 2019.
On the advice of Tim Buckwalter, Billy Pauch Jr has been selected to be the replacement driver in the GEI, Valley Forge Inc, machine. Pauch Jr is no stranger to wingless competition as he has made numerous starts with the USAC National Series in their annual “Eastern Storm”, Many feature event starts with the ARDC Midges, and is a regular, and champion with the USAC Speedstr’s and 600cc micro sprints at the Action Track USA. Not to mention, Pauch Jr is a regular in the modified division on Saturdays at the New Egypt Speedway where he is currently the points leader, and a former track champion. Pauch Jr no doubt has quite the mental notebook on how to get around the speedway.
The Gallagher team is excited to get to action on Saturday at New Egypt: “Bill and I (Curt Michael) look forward to working with Billy at New Egypt. Billy knows the race track well, and it should be a goo deal for the fans to see Billy doing double duty.”
The feeling is extremely mutual as Pauch Jr is ready to get to work on Saturday. Pauch spoke highly of the Gallagher entry and is hoping for a good night: “Im excited to work with Curt and Bill’s team.” Pauch said, “Their history with URC is second to none, and to say that they and Buckwalter have been good together is an understatement. I’m hoping that we can have a solid night and have some fun.”
In addition to the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, the Modifieds will also be on the card with a $3,000 to win feature event, along with the Crate Modifieds and Four Cylinders. Racing gets underway at 7pm on Saturday and general admission is $26.
