Ocean View, DE. June 17th, 2023.
As of today, Heffner Racing Enterprises South and Mike Heffner have decided to discontinue it's non-wing sprint car endeavors. This is the sole decision of team owner, Mike Heffner. Heffner stated, "I have enjoyed the last several years of being a non-wing team owner and have been blessed to have had some of the best drivers and crew members on the east coast. Our successes have proven that the dedication and passion of the team was well above par. I owe a great deal of gratitude to everyone who has been involved with the team for the last several seasons. There is no reason in particular, I just felt it in my gut and heart that it was time to focus on my true passion which is winged sprint car racing, of special note, I would like to sincerely thank Alex Bright, for piloting the car to numerous wins and podium finishes during the last year. Alex is a top-notch wheelman and a great person. I am certain that he has many wins left in him. I also would like to thank Curt Michael and the entire crew for their care and attention to the team and it's equipment. Last but certainly not least, a big personal thank you to Robert Hummer and our sponsors."
According to Heffner, the team plans to pause operations for the time being and will be reorganizing and reinventing to compete in 410 and 360 winged sprint car divisions. The team will continue to have Curt Michael manage and serve as crew chief for the team when the restructuring has been completed.
As for the Heffner Racing Enterprises Pennsylvania operations, it will be business as usual, nothing has changed or will change in the foreseeable future. Heffner states, "I am having more fun and im more excited than ever with the Troy Wagaman Jr piloted 27 in central Pa." Wagaman and the Ben Engle led team plan on competing in all of the Pennsylvania Speedweek.
Stay tuned for future updates regarding the next planned events, and driver for the Heffner Enterprises South team when they become available.
