Alex Bright and the Hummer Motorsports team came into the 2022 USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series season, eager to keep on rolling with the momentum and speed they showed in 2021, en route to their first career championship.

The season did not start out great for Bright and team, as a spin, and subsequent mechanical issue left the team with their worst finish of the season in the opening round of 16th. From there, Bright rebounded winning feature number one at Bloomsburg, and collecting three more top three finishes, before the team collected their first win of the season at the Delaware International Speedway.

Bright and team collected the inaugural Bill Gallagher Memorial 5G Classic win at the Williams Grove Speedway, a $5,000 victory, and the biggest in the history of the series. A second win at Williams Grove along with wins at, Clinton County, Port Royal, were part of the year for Bright. Coupled with the six victories, runner up finishes at Bridgeport 2x, Bedford, Delaware International 2x, Selinsgrove, Action Track, and Bloomsburg were the result of yet another strong season for the team, but left them short of the victories that they had experienced in 2021.

In addition to a busy USAC East Coast season, USAC National tour stops during Eastern Storm resulted in strong runner up finishes at Williams Grove and Port Royal, along with a trip to the Annual Kokomo Smackdown. While Bright came home second in USAC EC points, the team also finished second in the first Xtreme Outlaws season, collecting a win at the I-55 Speedway as well. Finally, Bright also collect two victories with the BOSS Sprint Series as well in the late summer months.

While not the dominating 11 win season of 2021, a 6 win USAC East Coast Season, coupled with three wins in non-wing 410 competition, the team still had a very strong season.

For the 2023 season, look for Bright and the Hummer Motorsports team to run, well… they’re not exactly sure yet. The team will not be running with any series or track for full time points as of yet, and the team may even venture into competing more with the wings on the Rodota Excavating number 20 car.
