After finishing fourth in 2020 series points, Alex Bright and his Hummer Motorsports team were primed to come with a full out assault on the 2021 Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, Presented by Capitol Renegade, and the results were nothing short of extraordinary.

By now, the story has been told and regaled a number of times, not only from local media, but from the national spotlight as well. A season long, blow for blow, duel between Alex Bright and Briggs Danner for the 2021 series title. But, while the story may be known, the numbers behind the incredible run are impressive to say the least.

Bright and the Hummer Motorsports team were one of only two teams to make every feature event during the 2021 Series season. Briggs Danner and the Gallagher Racing team were no surprise the other team to make all twenty-three events.

Starting with his runner up finish at Bridgeport to open the season, followed by winning the next round of action at the Port Royal Speedway, Bright and team were able to end the year with twenty-two top five five runs, eleven victories, nearly half the season, thirteen heat race wins, and secured the Vahlco Racing Wheels “Passing Master” of the year award advancing the most positions during feature events in 2021.

The team suffered only one DNF which resulted in a fourteenth place finish at Action Track USA, where Alex was again, competing inside the top five for position. Short of the early series runs and consistency of Steven Drevicki, no other driver has ever had the amount of dominance and speed that the Hummer Motorsports team displayed during the 2021 season.

While the team was like many others during the season and competed with the USAC National Sprint cars on the Eastern Tours, the team also made a journey to the Kokomo Speedway in August for the annual “Smackdown” along with making multiple winged 360 and 410 sprint car starts, and 600cc Micro sprint events throughout the year as well.

Moving onto the 2022 season, the teams plans are very much still undecided. While the team does have a pair of 410 sprint cars ready to attack Florida with the all new Xtreme Sprint Car series, as well as the annual “Winter Dirt Games” with the USAC National Sprint Cars, the rest of the season is still not set in stone. As of now, look for Bright to have some races with the series in 2022 on his schedule, with the possibility of returning to a full season very much in the mix as well.
